PETA Asia Delivers Aid to Victims of Tropical Storm Trami
After Tropical Storm Trami battered the Philippines on October 24, PETA Asia rushed lifesaving aid to Batangas and Cavite provinces, some of the hardest-hit areas near Metro Manila.
Floodwaters from Trami covered the ground floors of many buildings in these provinces. The devastation was immense, but PETA Asia’s aid was delivered to caretakers of animals who had lost everything—even their next meal—in the floods.
PETA Asia Distributed Aid to Hard-Hit Neighborhoods
PETA Asia focused on distributing cat and dog food in four crucial places: barangays San Antonio I and II in Noveleta and barangays Tubigan and Panalas in Lemery.
When PETA Asia arrived, these areas desperately needed aid of any type, and the companion animal supplies were greatly appreciated by residents.
Meet Wawa, Rescued by PETA AsiaÂ
While traveling through the Wawa neighborhood in Batangas, PETA Asia’s volunteers came across a dog with severe mange and in need of other medical attention. A resident told PETA Asia that this dog was homeless and subsisting only on food from community dog feedings.
It’s a wonder he survived Trami’s devastation, and the miracles didn’t end there. PETA Asia’s volunteers found him remarkably friendly and receptive to human contact. The team rescued this sweet dog, named him Wawa, and transported him to a veterinarian for care. Soon, Wawa will be with a foster family.
