Hi, I’m Dr. Karyn! Read my introduction to learn more about me and my five funny dogs, Poppy, Bailey, Kodah, Ned, and Fred.

Christmas 2024 was a big year in our house. Husband got a fancy skull shaver (which he promptly returned), I got a new, fandangle coffee machine, and Ned & Fred got a new bed. Technically, this little bed is marketed for cats, but seeing as a cat is roughly the size and weight of these two little Chihuahuas combined, a cat bed seemed to be the way to go.

Ned, in particular, loves all things fluffy – beds, blankets, pillows; you name it, he’s curling up in it, so when I spotted this cute little number online, I knew we had to have it. Within mere seconds of Husband completing the construction of this tiny wooden futon with its fluffy covering, both Ned and Fred were making themselves comfortable. And when I added a hot water bottle, well, I think Ned was in heaven.

Sharing Is Caring

While we weren’t surprised that the Chihuahuas loved their new cosy present, we were a bit surprised when we came downstairs to find that Bailey, our 55-pound Labrador, had somehow managed to squeeze herself into a bed measuring 18” x 21”. It did not seem physically possible, yet somehow, she made it work! When Poppy saw how comfortable she looked, she decided that she wasn’t about to miss out on the opportunity to try out a nice new bed, either.

She had a little more trouble squeezing her 65-pound frame into Ned & Fred’s bed, but that didn’t stop her from taking a long nap!

And of course, if there’s one creature in our house that is NOT going to miss out on something, it’s Kodah. Sadly for him, he was both too large and too unimaginative to be able to squish his big butt into this tiny bed.

When you look at all the dogs (with all of their different breeds) side-by-side, it is hard to believe that these images are of the same bed, but I promise you, they are! It’s almost as though this bed is like ‘the one ring’ from Lord of the Rings that shrinks and grows to fit the finger of the person who holds it. Or perhaps like those fabulous jeans in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? Somehow the laws of physics are being suspended.

What I can tell you is that the bed is still going strong and hasn’t suffered any damage despite being the most popular seat in the house. If you’re interested in getting your hands on one of these cute little beds, they are available to buy on Amazon, but I can’t guarantee that they all come with size-adapting magic as standard!
