In the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump, PETA’s blasting a message to anyone within earshot: No one wants their ears to be mutilated.
PETA’s Shout-Out for Empathy
Since Trump supporters are wearing ear bandages, we’re adding something that kind folks of all types can embrace: empathy for all individuals whose ears are disfigured without their consent. Our anti–ear mutilation stickers—which can be placed over bandages—highlight the suffering that dogs endure when humans cut their ears for cosmetic purposes or for fighting.
What Is Ear Cropping?
Ear cropping—or slicing off parts of dogs’ ears—is a painful, unnecessary procedure often performed on pit bulls, Great Danes, Dobermans, and other breeds, just because humans want them to have a particular look or to make their ears harder to hang on to in a fight.
Typically, the procedure is done when dogs are just 8 to 12 weeks old and can cause lasting trauma. Ear cropping not only is cruel but also perpetuates the idea that dogs are fashion accessories or pit fighters rather than living, feeling beings worthy of consideration.
Stick Up for Dogs, Too!
With PETA’s anti–ear cropping stickers, people can demonstrate their solidarity against violence and defend dogs at the same time. Plus, all the proceeds will go toward supporting our vital work for neglected dogs. You can buy a set of five of them today from the PETA Shop for just $4.99:
