No tricks, just treats! After hearing from PETA about SeaWorld’s history of exploitation and cruelty, Smarties and Albanese Candy have committed to not partnering with the abusement park again. This sweet victory comes after PETA contacted several candy companies that are already collaborating with SeaWorld for its Halloween Spooktacular event this year.

Smarties and Albanese Candy have joined a long list of brands—including Snickers, Mott’s, Hyundai Motor America, Panama Jack, and Thomas Cook as well as Air Canada, WestJet, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines—that have cut ties with SeaWorld.

Why Are Companies Ditching SeaWorld?

There’s no way to sugarcoat it: SeaWorld’s parks are houses of horror for the animals they imprison. In their ocean homes, orcas and other dolphins swim vast distances and maintain dynamic relationships with other members of their pods. SeaWorld keeps these highly intelligent, emotionally complex animals in small concrete tanks, where they swim in endless circles. More than 500 dolphins and whales have died at SeaWorld, and many others continue to languish in its tanks.

After an extensive PETA campaign, SeaWorld ended its wretched orca-breeding program, but the company continues to breed bottlenose dolphins and beluga whales in order to create additional generations of animals to exploit.

Scare SeaWorld Straight

The steady loss of sponsorships may be giving SeaWorld a good fright, but the animals suffering there still need your help. You can take action by never visiting SeaWorld or any other facility that exploits animals. Tell SeaWorld to stop breeding dolphins and whales and to send the animals it imprisons to seaside sanctuaries:
