In select egg cartons now! A collectable Top Villain card featuring wicked Dr. Helen Anne Hudson has just been released. As part of the Dynasty of Cruelty campaign, Animal Justice is unveiling a new collectable Top Villain card every week until Burnbrae Farms commits to stop torturing egg-laying hens in cages.
The Hudson family runs a multi-generational empire of suffering, and owns Canada’s largest egg supplier, Burnbrae Farms—notorious for caging sensitive hens in filthy and cramped metal cages.
Canadians in cities from coast to coast may find the new Top Villain Card for Dr. Helen Anne Hudson in Burnbrae egg cartons in grocery stores. It’s time for consumers to hold Dr. Hudson and the Burnbrae dynasty accountable for decades of hen abuse.
Burnbrae Misleads Canadians & Blocks Cage-Free Progress
The US and Europe are moving towards eliminating cages altogether, but Canada is stagnant in making cage-free progress. Massive egg corporations like Burnbrae are in large part to blame.
Over 50 percent of Burnbrae’s eggs come from hens in cages, including more and more hens being confined in “enriched” battery cages, which still lead to widespread illness, injuries, and death, just like conventional battery cages.
To make matters worse, Burnbrae misleads consumers about how hens are treated. Burnbrae’s packaging features grassy fields and a smiling mascot egg, and they use friendly-sounding terms like “Nestlaid” and “enriched colony housing.” But these terms disguise that the hens are kept in cruel metal cages. Research shows that shoppers falsely believe that these eggs come from cage-free hens.
Burnbrae can’t keep getting away with caging hens and deceiving buyers into thinking hens in their farms live good lives. Stay tuned for our next Top Villain card release, and in the meantime, demand that Burnbrae go 100 percent cage-free!
